April 2013 Strongest Month;
Up 72% from April 2012

The housing market in Garfield County turned out some great numbers for April 2013. According to the Garfield County Market Analysis, April was the strongest month not only in dollars but also in transactions, showing an increase of 72% from April of 2012. Dollars totaled $33,594,160 with 102 transactions which showed an increase of 23% from April 2012.
For the year, through April, there were a total of 350 transactions and $94,797,460 in dollars.

County wide, Carbondale led with 24 transactions totaling $11.5 million. Rifle came in close second with 21 transactions for a total of $9.4 million, followed by Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Battlement Mesa and Parachute. Of all the transactions for April, 19 were bank sales for a total of $3.2 million.

The majority of the buyers were not new arrivals in the valley. Local buyers accounted for 82% of purchases, with another 5% from the Front Range of Colorado, and 13% were from Out of State.
